Woodcutting training
Woodcutting training
This page details the optimal training methods for levelling up Woodcutting. Unlike its predecessors, Dragonwilds does not require specific Woodcutting levels to equip logging axes or to chop trees.

Инструменты:
- Logging Axe – Your main tool to train Woodcutting
Слоты брони:
- Mage armour hat and/or body – as it grants a -50% Stamina Regen Delay for a single piece equipped Although it is not mentioned in the table above, the suggested equipment can be replaced by any of their equivalent(s) (e.g., infinity armour = Lunar Garou armour). See this for a complete list.
- Leggings of lightness – Increases the player's maximum carry weight by 50 and reduces the amount of fall damage the player takes
- Lumber backpack – Provides massive woodcutting utilities: +10% reduction to the weight of carried wood+10% increase to Woodcutting experience+10% increase to the amount of wood received from chopping trees+15% for special item drop chance
Trinkets:
- Unholy symbol – +15% more damage on trees
- Amulet of glory – +25% more damage on trees
- Inspiring ring of Woodcutting – +5% experience boost Due to the unique mechanics of Dragonwilds, the unholy symbol (+15%) and the amulet of glory (+25%) are consistently preferred over the inspiring ring of Woodcutting. Because higher damage output directly reduces chopping time, it results in significantly better experience rates per any given timeframe. If the player does not have access to these, they should use the Inspiring Ring instead.

*Perks: Food perks do NOT stack. Eating another food after consuming a different one overrides its perk(s) with the most recent food eaten. Potions behave like this as well; drinking a new potion will immediately overwrite your active potion buff. While players cannot layer multiple foods or multiple potions, one potion + one food perks can be stacked together simultaneously.

General advices
As players continuously chop down trees in the base game (leave the stumps alone!), they will start to accumulate tree seeds as drops. By collecting and planting these seeds back into the ground around existing wooded areas, players can actively expand the world's natural forests, making long-term resource gathering and XP farming much easier.
Ash and Oak
Because ash and oak trees have the lowest HP of all tree types, they remain a highly competitive source of experience over any given timeframe. This is especially true when backtracking to them using significantly higher-tier axes than the ones minimally required, as the massive damage output allows players to shred through them instantly for rapid, consistent experience. Furthermore, they are incredibly accessible as they are located pretty much everywhere across Ashenfall, with some exceptions.
Willow

Although willow trees are primarily located in dangerous areas, well-geared players can still effectively utilise them for training. Willows can be found all over the Fellhollow region, specifically clustered around the various ponds. Building lodestones in high-density willow areas is highly recommended, as it allows players to quickly teleport from one cluster to another, bypassing dangerous terrain and minimising downtime. Just like with earlier tiers, chopping willows becomes significantly faster and yields much better experience per any given timeframe once better axes are obtained. Players need to keep in mind that they're very likely to get attacked by nature spirits, zombies and skeletons while training on willow trees. Since there are only a few of them in every areas, it is recommended to plant the seeds acquired around the existing trees to expand the forests.
Maple

Maple trees become a viable source of experience once the Dowdun Reach region is unlocked and the player has acquired a mithril logging axe. Just like all trees, chopping maple trees becomes significantly faster after unlocking better logging axes. A large concentration of them can be found in The Courtyard; this specific area features very few hostile enemies, though players should still watch out for stray Chinchompas wandering into the area! Unlocking the nodestones as part of the main quest can make travelling there much easier. Note: Although players are prevented from building any lodestones around the main area (castle area), they can be built in some areas such as The Approach, The Menagerie, The Pastures and The Courtyard. Refer to the image on the right side. As of right now, maple trees almost have a guaranteed maple tree seed drop every time the player chop them; this can significantly help expand the forest all around The Courtyard (safest area).
Yew
Yew trees become available once the Umbral Sands region is unlocked. As of right now, yews represent the highest tier of tree available in the game, aligning with the adamant logging axe. While training on yews is not the fastest method for raw experience, it remains viable, especially for players looking for variety in their training. Large clusters of yews can be found scattered all across the desert area. When training here, players must manage the Scorching heat mechanic and seek out shadow when necessary. Additionally, combat readiness varies by spot: while some yew clusters are located dangerously close to hostile enemies, others offer more peaceful chopping zones.
Tree Planting Method with Spells
This method involves planting two or more parallel rows of around a dozen trees and casting Астральная проекция to fell them all simultaneously. Once the trees have fallen, cast Осколки from the centre of the trunk piles to break multiple trunks at once, resulting in a large XP drop.
While Осколки is on cooldown, alternate by casting Тотем из ствола on the remaining trunk piles. This converts them into wooden totems, consolidating the logs into one to three choppable totems and reducing the time spent moving between trunks.
*Casting Осколки on wooden totems is not recommended for training purposes, as it significantly reduces the amount of experience gained compared to casting it directly on fallen trunks.
This strategy requires a significant amount of upfront preparation, as players must gather a large stockpile of tree seeds before starting, but it can result in a quick and massive experience gain if done right. This cycle can be repeated as many times as desired if multiple rows are prepared in advance, keeping in mind that trees take three days to fully respawn.
