The toktz-mej-tal is a power level 7 staff that can be crafted at a mystic forge. The recipe is unlocked after studying the elongated obsidian construct vestige, which can be dropped by KotHaar-Hur and KotHaar-Xil in Umbral Sands with a 2/100 drop rate. It can be ascended at the mystic forge using ascension cores.

Its special effect is that it has an increased chance of landing critical strikes, although the exact chance is unknown. If it functions similarly to other weapons that have an extra chance to crit, then it would be 15%. However, it also has reduced durability, 300 less than other staves from Ghornfell, Fellhollow, and Umbral Sands, and 600 less than staves from Dowdun Reach.

With a rune damage multiplier of 8.4, it is 0.3 and 0.4 less than the staff of light and the necromancer's staff, respectively, when ascended to power level 7. However, as we have calculated with the draconic staff (which has 15% additional chance to crit), the multipliers would need to increase to 12.x for the increased chance to crit to provide an average increase in overall damage done. And again, although durability is trivial to manage with Magical Mending, the extended duration of the fight caves may warrant a different choice.

Stone is not traditionally great at channelling magical energies. Stone is hard, solid and unchanging. Its shape can be carved away, but it will not bend, nor yield, only snap and crumble. Magic requires a more pliable medium to be used effectively.

Yet, the KotHaar are older creatures, to whom magic itself must bend. Creatures who were forged at the very birth of magic on Gielinor. The magic of the Elder Gods, to which all of creation must kneel.

This staff, the TokTz-Mej-Tal is older than the civilisations of Gielinor, and it still carries some of that old-world magic within it.

Try not to break it.
