Garou Chit

Garou chit are currency used by the Moon Garou in Umbral Sands.

Item sources

Garou chit can be found inside chests within the Umbral Sands region as well as from selling items to a garou merchant. Only a few items can be sold for chit, and the three available merchants have separate lists for what they will purchase from the player.

Strategy

When starting off, players can obtain a substantial amount of chits by completing the various side quests unlocked during the Umbral Sands main quest, Icthlarin's Little Helper.

An efficient way to farm garou chit after unlocking the appropriate merchants is to sell surplus materials with limited utility at this point in the player's progression, such as maple logs and coarse animal fur.

One of the most effective materials to sell is leather from dragons, as they have no further use beyond the few weapons and armour made from them: Each of the 5 green dragons drop 6-8 green dragon hide which can be processed into 12-16 green dragonhide leather worth 100 garou chit each, the 3 blue dragons drop 6-8 blue dragon hide which can be processed into 12-16 blue dragon leather worth 120 garou chit each, and the 5(ish) red dragons drop 6-8 red dragon hide which can be processed into 12-16 red dragonhide leather worth 140 garou chit each!

That's 18,720 to 24,960 garou chit for farming all of them, which can easily be done in a day, and once every four or five days! While farming for dragon's rare drops like the amulet of glory, this can be a substantial source of garou chit in the meantime. That's not to mention the dragon teeth and dragon blood as well as other drops that can also be used in other recipes or valuable items, such as cooling ferocious infusion and draconic leather.

Location of the north-western kalphite egg spawns in the Umbral Sands.

Another efficient method involves completely clearing the north-westernmost area of the desert of kalphite eggs to harvest kalphite ichors. Clearing the entire zone, including the cave leading to the nearby kalphite queen, yields approximately 800 ichor, which can be sold to Iasadair for roughly 12,000 garou chit. Using a fast weapon such as keris or a hard-hitting crush weapon like an adamant warhammer or mace, together with an air enchantment speeds up the process considerably. The whole process takes about 20 minutes and can be done every day as the eggs respawn daily.

An additional way to farm garou chit for free is to purchase dragonwolf hide from Iasadair - The Merchant for 45 chit and make it into draconic leather and sell it back for 60 chit. This is also a decent way to gain Artisan experience.

Currency is a relatively new concept for the garou who, through most of their history, relied on a barter system based around hunting. As the Moon Garou settled into less hectic lives, they needed a means of trade that everyone had access to, and so created the chits to do so.

These chits are formed from tiny scraps of adamantite, melted down and then stamped with the branding of the tribes. A fun fact about them is that both sides have garou heads on them, one male and one female, so you can flip as many heads in a row as you want.
