Draconic Staff

The draconic staff is a power level 4 staff that can be crafted at a mystic forge. The recipe is unlocked after studying the parts of a sinister-looking staff, which can be found in a chest on the western wall outside of Skeklac Kara, the dragonkin vault in Ashien's Watch. It can be ascended at the mystic forge using ascension cores.

Its special effect is +15% critical strike chance which equates to an average 1.0375x damage increase, but it also has -15% durability. Unlike the dragonbone dagger, this weapon does have reduced durability compared to the blightwood battlestaff (its comparable weapon) which has 1300 to this weapon's 1100.

However, when compared to the staff of light and necromancer's staff at equivalent power levels, it always has a 0.4 - 0.5 lower rune damage multiplier. In order for the increased chance to crit to have a higher average damage increase, the rune multipliers would need to increase to higher than 12 while maintaining the 0.4 - 0.5 difference (in other words, this staff would need a rune multiplier of 12.3 and +15% critical strike chance to have the same average damage as the necromancer staff if it had a rune multiplier of 12.8).

Rasthin was a powerful sorceress, even among the dragonkin. She had mastered all manner of spells and was even schooled in the techniques from the previous Revision.

Still, magic as an art was largely looked down upon by dragonkin society. It was considered vulgar and the obsession of children. Alchemy and science were the real way forward. In part, it’s because of the connection between magic and the hated Elder Gods, and the dragonkin feared rousing, further, their anger.

But Rasthin knew the value of magic, as did the other members of her group. She created a staff, forged from glittering crystal and anima-infused iron, which allowed her to channel her magic into powerful spells.

Yet, even with a weapon as powerful as this, she discarded her magic when she uncovered the power of Ashenfall – preferring, instead, to enjoy her newfound connection with elemental flame.

Still, the remnants of the staff pulse with potential, and while they may never reach the might of their former power, they remain mighty magic tools, just waiting to be crafted.
