There were no garou in Fellhollow for the people to deal with, so in the early days of the settlement people created steel crossbows primarily for hunting game. The dragons that guarded the people were gentle creatures, but possessed of an enormity so great that they required a great deal of food to keep going. Hunting, therefore, became a very popular activity, with many competitions and events crafted to provide meals for the draconic caretakers.

When the withering began to spread and the dead began to rise, steel bolts proved just as effective at piercing a zombie’s skull, as it[sic] would catching[sic] the quarry from a hunt.

Though the dead would come in droves, the crossbow would let them be taken out at great distance, keeping the last remaining settlements safter[sic] for just a few days longer. Every moment counted in those final days.
