The granite maul is a power level 3 two-handed melee weapon craftable after the quest Granite Mauled. It is classified as a masterwork weapon. It can be ascended at the mystic forge using ascension cores.

Its special effect is that it hits harder but slower than other warhammers, and its special action is called Battering Ram, which will knock down most opponents. It has no effect on minibosses or bosses. Although it has a unique animation, other two-handed warhammers special actions also knock down most opponents.

Although this weapon has a different, very slightly slower attack style than other two-handed warhammers, it has a far higher damage range at every power level that makes it stand out when ascended: bronze warhammer (PL3, 52 - 82), iron warhammer (PL4, 76 - 119), steel warhammer (PL5, 100 - 157), mithril warhammer (PL6, 126 - 198), and adamant warhammer and tzhaar-ket-om (PL7, 156 - 244).

While metal may be the preferred choice of weapon makers, the Granite Maul stands as a testament to the raw power of stone. This legendary weapon, revered among hammer wielders, is nothing more than a massive, heavy stone affixed to a stick. Yet, in the hands of a skilled wielder, it becomes a force of unparalleled destruction.

It was developed by ancient dwarves long ago, after one dwarf got fed up with the rock hammer he was using to fight a nest of gargoyles. The beasts were strong and numerous, and their skin was almost impenetrable to conventional weaponry; only rock hammers seemed to hurt them. In frustration, one dwarf took the biggest hunk of granite he could find and turned it into a legend.

Since that moment, the weapon has been refined, using various special components to make it more wieldy in combat. The original creator having[sic] done himself an injury with the recoil.
