Amalgamated

Amalgamated

The Амальгамы were humans and creatures living in Ashenfall who had been imbued with elemental energy, resulting in unique physical powers and mutations. This was likely the result of humans living in close proximity to the region's wild anima being transformed like its indigenous fauna. Many Amalgam-like creatures can still be seen wandering around to this day, including elementally-imbued sheep, cows, and chinchompas.

History

The Amalgamated humans began appearing sometime after Guthix and his followers established the village of Bramblemead Valley in the First Age. Jealousy sparked fierce prejudice against the Amalgamated immediately following their appearance. The Amalgamated were often seen as less than human, and were the subject of significant violence. The Wild Knights often risked their lives to sneak into towns and rescue Amalgamated from their persecution. However, the prejudice eventually culminated in a great schism where humans fought to purge Ashenfall of the Amalgamated.

Fire

The 'Fire-Touched' Amalgamated were said to have bodies which were so hot, they would 'cook' leather armour. Their skin was said to resemble burning coals and embers, and they were capable of channeling fire through their weapons.

Air

It is said that Amalgamated imbued with the power of air could guide arrows mid-flight.

Nature

Some Amalgamated possessed plant-like mutations, including leaves for hair.

Named Amalgamated

  • Mia Larsdottir: The first of the Amalgamated, who was murdered at age 21 with a bronze dagger, likely by her father who was ashamed of bringing an Amalgamated into the world. Her body was left in the forest rather than given a proper funeral.
  • Kessel: An Amalgamated Wild Knight whose skin glowed like burning coals. She favoured a bronze greatsword in battle and could channel her fiery nature through it, setting the blade ablaze. Her attack on a young garou prince helped trigger the war between humans and garou.
  • Derien: An Amalgamated archer gifted with control over air who won Bramblemead's archery tournament, causing the competition to end out of jealousy.

As the first of the Amalgamated, she had never expected to reach any of the milestones her peers traditionally followed. She did not expect to be married, and she never let herself dream of being a mother. She thought, perhaps, that she might be allowed to carve a quiet little place for herself, somewhere with room for cats. But a bronze dagger stole that dream from her. Her killer was never brought to justice, though there were rumours about who they were. Her father, being the chief suspect, ashamed as he was to bring the first of the unnatural Amalgamated into the world. He denied it, of course, but he never held a funeral for her. Instead, her body was left in the forest, where nature might put her at peace."

Where most of the order chose to wield bows, daggers, or swift blades, Kessel favoured a bronze greatsword. On the battlefield, she hefted it across her shoulders, never letting the hilt leave her grip. As one of the Amalgamated, Kessel's skin glowed like burning coals, her battle scars resembling faint reddish embers. She harnessed this heat, channelling it through her sword. Her magic set the blade ablaze, a sight that struck terror into the hearts of her enemies. With great arcs of red flame, she cleaved through enemy forces, incinerating them as she severed their limbs from their bodies. On one fateful day, she would use this technique against a force of garou hunters. The battle was long, hard, and brutal, and both sides faced great casualties. But it was when she sliced her blade across the young garou prince that war was inevitable."

His victory earned the Amalgamated more jealousy, which led to the competition ending out of envious spite."
