Some materials are better at resonating with souls than others. This is why a home made of better quality stones feels more comfortable than one made from pebbles. When used in wardstones, they allow for more powerful effects at no greater cost to the soul itself. Drawing out more of the ambient anima within a person, whilst minimizing the damage done.
