Mayev
Mayev
Маев was a Moon Garou hunter, recorded as the first in Ashenfall to wear red dragonhide. She made the armour from the remains of Vakar, a red dragon she had raised from a hatchling and considered a friend, following a garou tradition of wearing the hide and bones of a fallen warrior as a mark of honour.
History
As a cub, Mayev was restless and often wandered away from her camp to explore the surrounding dunes, much to her elder's frustration. On one of these excursions she entered a cavern deep underground, where she found a red dragon dying beside its newborn hatchling. Mayev took the orphaned hatchling out into the desert and raised it in secret, bringing it food and keeping it company until it came to regard her as a companion. She named it Vakar, a name the journals translate as "the flame-wrought song". As the two began to hunt together they brought down larger prey, and Mayev earned the respect of her tribe by sharing what they killed. Mayev and Vakar were later attacked by the KotHaar. Vakar's dragonfire had little effect on the lava-born creatures, and Mayev's arrows could not pierce their obsidian bodies. Overwhelmed and unable to defend themselves, the pair were saved only when Vakar carried Mayev clear of the fighting, taking grievous wounds in the process. He died of his injuries soon after. Following garou custom, Mayev buried his heart, and from his scales and bones she made armour and a bow.
