Blue dragons are not native to Dowdun Reach, because blue dragons are not native anywhere. They are creations of the dragonkin, and this particular strain is Lacrussa's work. Lacrussa did not consider them failures, but she did not consider them successes, either. They were stepping stones: and, as such, she let them rest on Dowdun Reach.

Avisk maneuvered the multi-faceted prism within the blue dragon's mind. He observed it using his mastery of air, but no permutation would focus the blue dragon's thoughts, no orientation would align the chaos. He resolved to break parts of that giant stone, but its power was diminished with each snap and shatter. He crumpled to the floor of the blue dragon's mind-space in frustration.

The breakthrough was borne from that frustration. Just as he would move into the consciousness of a living being, he moved into the consciousness of the stone. Perhaps he forgot where he was. Against all his expectations, he was able to step into the stone itself, as if it itself had a consciousness. There was a second layer to the blue dragon's mind.

It is impossible to comprehend what Avisk saw there. But he was forever changed. He no longer cared for healing the blue dragons of their crystalline blockage, of restoring them to sapient thought. Instead, he wished to recreate the prism, the crystal, in the corporeal world.
